In the old Nordic language, “run” meant secret writing. Yersterday I found a website full with lots of informations about runes.
The Runes are generally small pebbles on which are engraved the characters of the runic alphabet.
Right, they will give you the positive sense to the question asked. Reversed, they will deliver you the negative meaning.
24 Runes make up this alphabet, it’s called the Futhark alphabet
These signs served at the base as writing by the Saxon and Scandinavian peoples of the pre-Christian era. Following the invasions of the Vikings, the runes spread throughout Europe.
In Northern mythology it is said that the runes were brought from another world by Odin, the god of war, wisdom and death.
At the beginning, there were only 15 runes that represented the joints a, b, f, h, i, k, l, m, n, o, r, s, t, th, u.
Then the Scandinavians added k, i, t, b, g, e, d, p.
Finally, the Anglo-Saxons constituted, by means of certain changes, retrenchments or additions made to the ancient characters, an alphabet of 24 characters.
In the third and fourth centuries, the inscriptions of runes become more and more frequent and become extremely popular.
In Denmark huge monuments were built in the 10th century, and used as preventive signs by engraving them on various objects.
In Sweden, the runes were still used in the 19th century.
